Green M&M

This ecological project is led by one of the tutors and a group of students. They have planted approximately more than 3.000 trees in the last few years, thus creating a nature reserve. Every Saturday morning they go together either to clean parks and rivers or take care of the trees already planted.

Our municipality Villanueva Casanare is situated in the Colombian orinoquia very close to the Amazon and has been subject to one of the highest rates of afforestation in the world due to the large African palm plantations and the oil industry. Aware of this, many Colombian and foreign children and young volunteers of the non-profit organisation M&M created the ecological group Green M&M, to raise awareness and prevent further damage to our forests. For this reason the Green M&M group, wanting to make a difference, has planted and cared for more than 3000 trees in rural areas and in the municipality, helping to collect rubbish in green areas and parks. For this reason we have been awarded several times by the municipal administration.
